First, a bit of history when it comes to rattan. Rattan comes from tropical jungles, in Africa or Indonesia. It is, in essence, highly resistant, and ideal for furniture because it is both a lightweight and robust material. In furniture, rattan often appears in garden furniture. However, designers are quick to seize on this material to create a variety of decorative pieces.
Then rattan took its place in all our grandparents' home decor, appearing to us as an old-fashioned material. However, rattan has made a comeback with a reappropriation of the material by designers and furniture stores. Today, rattan can be found everywhere in decorating, in more subtle touches and combined with more modern colors and materials.
Rattan armchairs, because of the lightness of their material, are very elegant and airy in a living room. The light color gives the armchair a very natural look. Painted rattan armchairs are also available. Choose the color you like - black, white, red, blue - anything is possible. A cushion can be added to the seat to make the armchair even more comfortable. A white cushion will create a pretty and luminous combination. But you can also decide to add cushions in a different color, such as grey-green, duck blue or yellow.
You can also be tempted by a patterned cushion to dress up your rattan armchair. Add to this a soft rug and a pretty plaid and you'll have a lovely cocooning and cosy atmosphere to your living room. Add a few wooden shelves fixed to your wall, some hanging plants and you're all set for a Scandinavian decor to die for.
